This recipe will yield approximately 250g (2 1/2 cups) of cranberry sauce.

Cook time: 15 min

Difficulty: easy
Ingredients

- 340g (12 oz) fresh cranberries
- 1 cup (200g) sugar
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
- Zest of 1 orange
- Juice of 1 orange
Step-by-step
1
Rinse the fresh cranberries under cold water to remove any debris or stems. Discard any that are soft or damaged.
2
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed cranberries, sugar, water, orange zest, and orange juice. Stir to combine all the ingredients well.

3
Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.

4
As the cranberries heat up, they will begin to pop and release their juices. Continue to simmer for about 10–15 minutes until the sauce thickens and most of the cranberries have burst.

5
Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat and let the cranberry sauce cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools. If desired, you can transfer it to a bowl or container.

6
Allow the sauce to chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. It pairs wonderfully with turkey, ham, your favourite cheese or as a spread for sandwiches!
