Serves: 4

Cook time: 40 min

Difficulty: easy
Ingredients

- 1 1/4 cups (250 ml) milk
- Leftover bread (amount as desired, typically a few slices.
- 5 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) butter, room temperature
- 1 1/4 cups (300g)ricotta cheese
- 1 cup (100g) hard cheese, grated (your preferred type)
- 1 teaspoon salt
Step-by-step
1
Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Grease a casserole dish with butter.

2
Slice the leftover bread into 2 cm (about 1-inch) slices. Soak these slices in the milk and arrange them in a single layer in the buttered casserole dish.

3
Layer the soaked bread evenly. Once you have a full layer of soaked bread, spread the ricotta cheese over it. Then, season with salt to taste.

4
In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs with the remaining milk, then pour the mixture over the ricotta and bread. Ensure the egg mixture is evenly distributed over the entire surface.

5
Grate the hard cheese (any type of hard cheese you prefer) and sprinkle it evenly over the top of the casserole. Then, place it in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden on top.
