Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder 
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Step-by-step

In a large mixing bowl, combine all the wet ingredients: milk, oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until thoroughly combined.

Once the wet ingredients are mixed, add the dry ingredients : sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt, in flexible order.

Whisk gently initially to prevent scattering the dry ingredients, then increase speed until all lumps dissolve, creating a smooth batter.

Preheat the waffle iron (per its instructions) and once it’s hot, lightly grease both sides with oil. Pour the batter onto the center of the preheated waffle iron. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are fully cooked.
