Serves: 6

Time: 35 min

Difficulty: easy
Ingredients
- 300g puff pastry
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- Juice of a half lemon
Step-by-step
1
Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
2
Thinly slice the apples and gently toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning.
3
Remove the pastry from the fridge and roll it into six rectangles. Each rectangle should be approximately 12 cm (4 ¾ inches) square.

4
Using a sharp knife, make two cuts along the outside edge of each rectangle, about 1 ¼ cm (½ inch) wide, without cutting all the way to the tip of the triangle.

5
Beat the egg and brush the pastry with the beaten egg. Then, arrange the sliced apples on top of each pastry square, inside the border, overlapping them slightly.

6
Gently lift the strip of pastry over to the left, placing it on the edge of the pastry square, and repeat with the other strip, crossing to the other side to create a frame around the filling.

7
Brush the edges of the pastry with the remaining beaten egg. Generously sprinkle with sugar all over the apple slices and edges of the pastry.

8
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the pastry is golden-brown.

9
Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
